Mary’s Wedding

Mary contacted me early this year regarding her wedding. She booked me without requiring a trial.

Her prep location was at The Dorchester, Hyde park.

Can I just say that Mary was such a sweetheart to work with, she was very chilled out and trusted me completely.

On the day, after my arrival and set up I briefly waited for my colleague and dear friend Dionne Smith to finish prep on the hair before I began.

I started with my regular routine of cleansing and hydrating before starting on her eye area. I always start makeup from the eyes.

MAC brow pencil in Spiked was used to fill in her brows followed by a clear brow gel to keep the hair in place. MAC paintpot in laying low was used as primer on the eyelids. Eyeshadows used were from Lorac pro eyeshadow palette – Lt bronze and pewter were the main shades used. This was finished off with a liner and strip lashes which added glam to the eyes.

Mary’s skin was pretty normal, her t zones were barely oily. I moisturised using my favourite – Embryolisse lait cream and prepped using YSL Touche éclat blur primer.

Foundation used was Lancome Teint Idole ultra 24h in shade 13.2. To conceal and highlight I used Kevyn Aucoin Sensual skin enhancer in a mix of 13 and 14, this was set using RCMA no colour loose powder. To add more coverage I used a fluffy brush to apply MAC fix plus powder in NC55/NW45 all over the face.

To add definition to the face I contoured her face using MAC fix plus powder in NW55 and highlighted using Bobbi brown shimmer brick in bronze. Blush used was MAC ambering rose.

On her lips I started with MAC lip pencil in Burgundy all over the lips then went over it with MAC lipstick in Dare you. This was applied, blotted off, reapplied and blotted off. What this did was turn the lipstick into a stain that would last longer than with just one application. No gloss was used.

I was with Mary for 8hours and only blotted her nose once with a ply tissue. I’m not a fan of regular touchup’s with powder, it makes the face appear “cakey” after a while.

She was really happy with the makeup as I received a lovely text before getting home on the same day.

A huge thanks for the patronage Mary 🙂
