Meet Joy Adenuga, Award-Winning UK Makeup Artist
And Industry Judge
Hi bride-to-be. My name is Joy, and I wanted to personally take the time to tell you more about what I do, and why you should care. But first, let’s talk about you. The biggest day of your life so far is on the horizon. It’s so close, you can almost taste the wedding cake – but you need more than “just a makeup artist.”
Black women are a rainbow of varying undertones, making it challenging to find the perfect customized palette. You need someone who understands the 100s of different black skin types and tones out there. Someone who will make your skin look flawless, effortlessly accentuated by shades and colours that match every kind of brown. Whether you have yellow or red undertones, I’ll use only the most high-end products and techniques to ensure your makeup blends perfectly to avoid embarrassing mishaps.
I am the award-winning artist you’ve been searching for, presented with the Bridal Makeup Artist of the Year award at the UK African Wedding Awards (won three consecutive years in a row). I’m also a Top 50 Wedding Makeup Artist, mentioned by Gohen.com, accompanied by a spot in 2020’s Top 126 Black Wedding Vendors on Hitched.co.uk. I’ve also been featured on BBC TV & Radio, ITV This Morning, Cosmopolitan, Yahoo Style, Harpers Bazaar, Glamour Magazine, The Sunday Times, Sheerluxe and Refinery29.
As a bridal artist and melanin beauty expert, I work with women of colour to showcase and celebrate natural black beauty, turning your canvas into a clean and colourful masterpiece.
But – I’m here to do more than your makeup. As a beauty expert, I know skin products and tricks you need to nourish and moisturize your skin while you rule like a Queen. I believe that the wedding glow starts from within.
I’ll keep you calm, cool, and stress-free, so you can saunter down the aisle with confidence, knowing your makeup was done by someone who’s collaborated with global brands the likes of Clinique, Tom Ford Beauty, BAFTA, and Smashbox, with highlights in magazines like Vogue and ELLE.
I don’t believe in plastering so much makeup on your face that you end up looking like a different person. As you approach your spouse-to-be, surrounded by your closest friends and family, you need to look and feel like the person they know and love. With your brief and my experience (over 10years), we can transform you into a glowing vision. The fact that your makeup will last all day is a bonus, without embarrassing lipstick smears or the need to “powder up” in the evening.
Not convinced? Explore my testimonials from real brides to see why my business is mostly word-of-mouth. You need more than a makeup artist. You need, and deserve, beautification from a fellow black woman who gets you, your skin, and your vision for your big day. Let’s connect.
