A Moroccan Affair

It was a beautiful Moroccan affair over the weekend working again with the Lovely Soulafe and her amazing family. I was Soulafe’s makeup artist at her traditional Moroccan Wedding in 2014 –  SEE POST . This time it was her brother getting married and I was booked to work on Soulafe, her 2 sisters, niece and Mother.

I arrived at the Le Meridien Piccadilly, London where I set up at the family room to begin work. Their makeup was very similar, only difference was the lip colour.

Skin was prepped using Embryolisse Lait-crème concentre and lips were prepped with Creme de la Mer The lip balm.

Anastasia Beverly hills brow definer in Dark brown was used to define the brows, this was further defined by outlining the shape using MAC prolong wear concealer in NC30.

The Sisters wanted very dark smouldering eyes so I primed the lids and bottom lash area using MAC paint pot in Constructivist. Then using primarily the shades in the Lorac pro eyeshadow palette, I created a beautiful chocolate smokey eye look. This was further emphasised by adding strip lashes.

Moving on the skin, I massaged in Smashbox photo finish primer to prep the skin and ensure smooth application of the foundation. The sisters had a bit of discolorations on the skin but I didn’t colour correct due to the foundation I was going to use. I used the Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-place foundation, Its full coverage and covered all discolourations on the skin without looking ‘caked on’. I used mostly shades Tawny 3W1 and Dawn 2W1.

I brightened under the eyes using Kevyn Aucoin Sensual skin enhancer in 8. This was set with a mix of MAC mineralized skin finish in Medium and Blot powder in Medium. This was to avoid the under eye looking ‘overly powdered’.

For contour I used MAC sculpting powder in a mix of definitive and shadowy, they wanted the contour quite dark. For highlight I used MAC oh darling highlighter and Dior Shimmer powder in Amber Diamond. Finished off the cheeks with a swirl of NARS blush in orgasm.

On the lips, they mostly had MAC lipliner in Whirl paired with MAC lovelorn lipstick. Soulafe wanted Red lips, I lined her entire lips using MAC lipliner in Red and filled in with Bobbi brown lipstick in Old hollywood. This looked sensational on her.
