My Top Face Masks

I travelled a lot this year for destination weddings and my skin was a hot mess after my last trip. I had gotten way too tanned, sunburnt and having breakouts.

Was desperate to get my skin back to normal and decided to include face masks in my daily/weekly routine. I did a lot of research before picking a few to try out and these now have a permanent spot in my beauty cabinet.

  • Glamglow Youth Mud Tinglexfoliate Treatment – This product had mixed reviews. Fortunately, I had a sample pack received from their PR I had been procrastinating trying out for months. When applied, it does have a tingling effect, bordering on uncomfortable yet bearable. When washed off my face appeared brighter, clearer, very soft to touch and oil free. Because of its tendency to dry out my skin I use this just once a week which recently reduced to twice a month due to the current weather.  I do get more of a dryer skin during the cold months but know I’ll resume weekly use when the weather becomes warmer.

  • Chantecaille Detox Clay Mask – I use this also once a week, especially when I’ve worn makeup daily and know I will be makeup free the next day. Its quite rich and a little goes a long way which is great considering the price tag of £70! The texture on the face is like butter, I leave it on for 10mins, wash off and hello pore-less skin which is so soft to touch and looks bright!

  • Sarah Chapman Rapid Radiance Cleanse – This is meant to be a cleanser but can be used as a mask which I prefer it for. There are days I have important appointments but don’t feel like wearing makeup. I wear this after having my bath for just 5 minutes and wash off. My word! My face looks beautifully pore-less, bright and incredibly soft. Love it!

  • Glamglow Flashmud Brightening Treatment – Now I can’t say just this product brightened my skin as I used other products as well but I noticed after 4 weeks of use, the layers of foundation I used reduced to 1 or maybe 1&half. Also I noticed, I had to change my foundation shade from NARS MACAO to CADIZ which is a shade lighter. This has a strong citrus smell so if you have an aversion to strong perfumed products, you may not like this.

Please note, as soon as I started getting serious with my skin routine I also became more religious in using an SPF everyday when going out. There’s nothing worse than spending so much money on products and walking into the sunlight with the sun rays destroying all the work. I even switched my primer to Laura Mercier foundation primer with protect broad spectrum SPF 30.

SPF is very important no matter what skin tone you have.

I also reduced my moisturiser usage to just serums as they have a lighter consistency perfect for me. At the moment I am testing a few of them but will do a blog post on my favourites when done 🙂
